To celebrate the international 2018 “Take a Child to the Theatre” Durban Actors Studio, proudly bring you the PLAY IN A DAY workshop, a free theatre workshop.

We are calling all our young imaginative minds, from the age of 9 to 17, to come together, create and perform your own play in just one day! This is your chance to create a unique, fun piece of theatre. Who knows what stories you’ll tell, what strange and wonderful characters you’ll create and what worlds you’ll be transported to. 

Special thanks to The Playhouse Company for donating use of a rehearsal room.

  • Workshop Time: 08h00 – 17h00 (parents to provide snacks/drinks – students are NOT allowed to leave the venue)

TV Presenting

TPresenting Crash Course artwork finalhis workshop is designed for ages 16 to adult. 

TV presenters must be confident, knowledgeable and ready for anything. During this course we will work through on-camera presenting skills, interviewing skills and how to use your energy, personality and presenting style to captivate your audience. You will receive a head shot and your taped segments via email at the end of the course. If presenting is your goal, and you are passionate about people, places and communication – register now!

SANELE SIBIYA – Sanele’s CV is overflowing with professional training credits. Choreographer, scriptwriter and co-director of musical theatre productions. The Artistic Director of the KZN Youth Choir Fundraiser Concert. Facilitator of the Felixton High School Arts and Culture workshop. Sanele has also performed with KZN Youth Choir, Flatfoot Training Company, Durban City Orchestra, Grahamstown Arts Festival and many more. Sanele was the co-company Manager for Young Performers Project 2014. Sanele is the Musical Director for the Youth Theatre Project, in association with KickstArt Theatre. Introduction to Stage Make Up

Stage Make up WorkshopThis workshop is designed for ages 12 to 19.

During our time together we will explore stage make up throughout theatre history. We will explain the difference between day to day make up and stage make up and why it is important for all performers to wear stage make up. We will teach you the basic application techniques used for make up styles such as aging, period and fantasy. The session will end with a photo shoot and handing out of Certificates of Attendance.

Dates: 5 and 6 April, 07:30am – 12:30pm
